Holy cow has this been a long time coming! I’m happy to announce that we have finally gotten everything straightened out with iTunes and Endless day will be live on the iTunes store in the month of June! We are very sorry that it has taken so long for this to happen. It was a very bad case of miscommunication between a number of people, but I’m totally excited that we’ll be back on iTunes very soon!
I want to personally thank all of you who have waited patiently for this to happen. We know you could have found a slightly less-legal way to get our music, but you waited, and for that I thank you! Anyway, have a great week!
In case you all missed it, we had and awesome online chat hosted by Twilighters Anonymous on Wednesday, May 27th. I wanted to thank all the TA staff for hosting the event! It was a blast! Here’s a copy of the post from Twilighters Anonymous. Wednesday evening, they will interview me AND we will be announcing some exciting news!
We have super exciting news to bring you TA’ers! The Twilight-inspired group, Mitch Hansen Band, will be joining us on May 27th for an exclusive video chat interview! Not only are they going to grant us a live video chat interview, but they will also be performing a few lives songs for us!
You may know the Mitch Hansen Band from their super-popular song “Jacob Black” on YouTube. If you haven’t heard the song click here.Mitch Hansen and Brent Cook make up the Mitch Hansen Band.
Mitch has been writing songs since the age of 12. He explains how he began writing Twilight related music:
“My day job put me in the path of an unknown book around August of 2007. That book was Twilight. I had never heard of it or anything about, so I turned it over and checked out the back. “Vampires!” I thought, “Cool!” I decided to give it a try and I was hooked instantly. I read all three books in about a week, which is a lot of reading for someone who doesn’t read a ton.
After finishing Eclipse I was playing guitar and messing around with a little finger-picking riff I wrote. My wife walked by and said, “Hey, that sounds cool. Does it have any words yet?” I told her, “No,” and she suggested that I write some lyrics about Bella and Edward. The books were very fresh in my mind and I thought that was a pretty sweet idea! That’s how the song Twilight Hour was born.
I was interested to see how the public would react to such a crazy idea, so I created a MySpace music page for fun and posted the song. It was very well-received, so I figured another song was in order. The reactions continued to be positive, so I just kept on writing Twilight songs. After a while I it became apparent that I needed to make these songs available to everyone. I went to work in my studio (a walk-in closet) and after nearly a month of work, the CD was done and Twilight Hour the album was released on December 21, 2007. By January it was available on iTunes and to my complete shock, people started buying it!”
Mitch on playing the songs live:
“I needed another guitar player to recreate the sounds from the CD. The search began, and luckily I didn’t have to look too far to find the right man for the job.
A coworker of mine told me that her son played guitar and that he was very good. “Riiiiiiiight,” I thought. I’ve heard that from plenty of doting mothers before. I decided to see if he was the real deal or not, though. To my amazement, he wasn’t just good, he was awesome, and he was a nice guy, too! So, not long after that Brent and I made our stage debut with the help of our friend, Taylor, on the bass guitar. Though we still weren’t an official “band” yet, we continued to play small clubs and acoustic-style shows for a while. Brent became an official member of the Mitch Hansen Band in May of 2008 and we just kept on doing our thing for the next few months.”
Endless Day was released in December 2008 - a collection of 10 songs from Twilight Hour fully re-recorded and remastered in a recording studio.
The Mitch Hansen Band will be at Summer School in Forks: A Twilight Symposium June 25-28th where they will again be performing LIVE just for us! (More info on Summer School in Forks.)
Make sure to tune into the chat because we will be releasing details on a Mitch Hansen Band-sponsored, TA Exclusive Contest that will run next month! They are contributing some HUGE prize packages to the TA winners, and during the interview, the Mitch Hansen Band will reveal the great prizes.
Please sign up/register for UStream account before the event (it’s free to sign up!) You will need your user name and password to participate in the live interview/chat.
Interview will happen at: May 27, 2009 @ 6 p.m. Pacific (9 p.m. Eastern)
Until then, enjoy a short video message from Mitch:
I have a huge favor to ask of you guys! We have an extremely lofty goal that we know we can accomplish, but we need your help! We want to get our music onto the New Moon film soundtrack. We think our songs By You and A World Without You would be perfect for New Moon. So, if you want to help us out with this goal, here is what you need to do:
STEP ONE: Help get our myspace plays for those two songs up as high as possible! I have set up a special myspace profile just for that purpose, so go there and let the player just keep playing those two songs over and over.
STEP TWO: Send the film’s music supervisor a myspace message about how you want to hear us on the soundtrack and why we would be an awesome fit! Here is her myspace page:
Tell them whatever you feel like telling them that might persuade them to give us a listen. Be sure to include our myspace profiles in the message. Here they are for your convenience:
Lets get the plays for the two songs up SUPER high and lets flood their inboxes with MHB soundtrack requests! If you wanted to know, her name is Alexandra Patsavas and she has done the music for a number of TV shows Like Grey’s Anatomy, Chuck, and Gossip Girl, plus the music for the first Twilight Film.
So, I’m really throwing myself at your mercy here, fans! We need your help! Lets show them that we are for real! Let me thank you in advance for any help! You all ROCK!
