“Jacob Black” lyrics

Jacob Black
Jacob Black
She’s not coming back
La Push has come to shove
And she’s through with you
Don’t you see
You’re just a dog to me?
If you come near her again
I’ll eat you, too

(Bridge)
First you missed her
Then you kissed her
I’m just watching
You think you’re fine
I’m waiting
Contemplating
Don’t you screw up
Or you’re mine

(Repeat Bridge)
(Chorus)
You’re nothing but a dog!

Nothing but a dog!

Nothing but a dog!
And it’s time for you to face the truth
You’re nothing but a dog

Nothing but a dog!

Nothing but a dog!
And she’s still way too good for you
Watch your back ‘cause who knows what I’ll do
Jacob Black I’ve got my eye on you!
The other day
I thought I heard you say
“May the best man win”
But I see through your ploy
You may think
That you are on the brink
Of winning her love
But you are just a boy
(Repeat Bridge/Chorus)
You were there to save her life when I was far away
Differences aside and I’ll say thank you anyway
The bigger man will shake your hand
And pretty soon you’ll see
In your mind you’re kissing her
In life she’s kissing me
(Repeat Chorus)

About Ambiguity & Generic Band Names

Some of my all-time favorite comments about our songs go something like this:

“Your songs are cool, because they are about Twilight, but they could also be about other stuff, too.”

Now that is a complete paraphrase, but from time to time we do get comments along those lines and I can’t help but smile, and here’s why: We did that on purpose! I take great care in writing our lyrics for that very reason.  There are obviously a few exceptions to this, like Jacob Black, but for the most part we try to include the feelings and situations from Twilight as inspiration, but nothing else.  The rhyme scheme in Jacob Black was just too fun to ignore, so I indulged in some serious Twi-fan lyrical shout-outs in that song.  If you’ve never seen the lyrics written out you may not have noticed that the second line says, “La Push has come to shove,” and not just plain-old “push.”  Fun times!

We go to great lengths to try and make the songs stand on their own musically first and foremost.  Then, we make sure that the lyrics speak to Twilight fans, but not so much that a regular music afficionado who isn’t familiar with the series would be turned off by them.

Hence our completely generic-sounding band name, too.  I named it that when I was the only one in the band, and I did so while taking all of 3 seconds to think it over.  Pretty soon it was too late to change it, so here we are: The Mitch Hansen Band.  In retrospect I would have taken a bit longer than 3 seconds to pick a name, but I started this whole thing as a fun weekend project, never expecting anything to come of it!  At least I have a name that’s easy to pronounce, right? Jacob Black

Jacob Black

Remastered for “Endless Day” with new lyrics inspired by Stephenie Meyer.

Twilight songs better with new lyrics

Due to multiple circumstances including Stephenie Meyer’s love for “Jacob Black” and our debut CD “Endless Days”, we have updated the lyrics to the Twilight-inspired songs. Below is a preview of what is to come:

“Already Dead”

I need you the same
To keep me from going off the edge
Oh wait, its too late I’m
Already dead

“Stay With Me”

I see you and then it hits me
Its no wonder you Eclipse me
Everything I wanted has come true

“I Don’t Know”

Is it worth the price?
Will I make it past the pain?
Leave it all behind
Can I live an Endless Day?

“A World Without You”

My instincts took control, no thoughts of right or wrong
Believe me when I tell you that I thought that you were gone
I tried to think of how I’d start again
But a world without you is not worth living in

“The Last Thing”

Every decade I’ve lived
I didn’t know that I was waiting for you
Then out of nowhere you were there
Disrupting all I knew

“By You”

Wrapped in stone, felt at home
If only you knew that this hole
Was created by you

“She Is Brighter”

She doesn’t walk, she’s always prancing
Only when she isn’t dancing

“Jacob Black”

Don’t you see
You’re just a dog to me?
If you come near her again
I’ll eat you, too

“Number 3″

Here I go I’m on a roll
I want to know about you
Holy water, stakes in hearts
Tell me is it even true.

“Lullaby”

Something strange is happening
And I don’t know what to do
I haven’t felt my heartbeat in over 90 years

Let us know your thoughts!
