Don't miss The Mitch Hansen Band LIVE!

Check us out on the Examiner.com!

We’ve been doing some Twilight-themed shows across the country and we are starting to get some real publicity. We were especially excited when Amanda Bell of the Examiner decided to interview me about the New Moon songs I have written as well as the upcoming Twi-Con event in Dallas.

Here’s the link to the Examiner article. Let me know what you think. And don’t forget to “Tweet” about it!

Close Encounter: P-Fatch and Billy Burke

Friday night we played a super-fun show at the Atlanta TwiTour convention with The Twilighters and Will Champlin. We had a blast and the crowd was awesome! I want to personally thank The Twilighters, Fred and Erin, for getting the crowd out of their seats. You guys are awesome!

Before the show we were sitting backstage waiting to setup and who should walk in but Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke! First you should know that my acoustic guitar’s name is The Doctor. Like from the show Doctor Who? So, anyways Peter sees my guitar and picks it and starts playing it! He proceeds to jam out on my guitar for a bit.

There I was watching The Doctor play The Doctor. It was a surreal moment. Peter and Billy are totally cool guys, by the way. Peter had the pleasure of working the crowd for us while we setup our stuff, and he had them eating out of his hand! He is a serious smooth operator and a true entertainer. Just wanted to share that fun anecdote with you. Have a great week!

Stick a “Forks” in us!

We just got back from playing a show in Forks. Yes, that Forks. As in Forks, Washington. It was a blast! What a beautiful part of the country! Mountains leading right down to the beach with 200-foot trees on them. No joke.

We had a great time playing the show and wanted to thank AL Nickel and the folks from Lit Fan Events for having us out! And everyone at Twilighters Anonymous for broadcasting our shenanigans to the world. You all rock!

I also want to give a shout-out to everyone at Dazzled By Twilight for treating us so well during our visit. Annette, Tim, Rianilee, Travis, Ben, Dan, Victoria, Shelby: you all are awesome! And thanks to all those who picked up our CD and came by to see us during our signings.

More cool stuff to come this Summer, so stay tuned to this blog and have a great week!

She Is Brighter CD sample

Here is a sample of the CD Version of She Is Brighter.

By You

In an attempt to keep Bella safe from the world of vampires, Edward leaves Forks. In “By You”, The Mitch Hansen Band brings that sense of loss and depression that Bella felt before you she turned to Jacob Black in Stephenie Meyers’ New Moon.

Lullaby - Endless Day sample

This is Lullaby and some of my own commentary about the song–what I was thinking when I wrote this.

Jacob Black - Endless Day sample

A clip of the Endless Day version of Jacob Black with commentary about what I was thinking when I wrote this song. Let me know your thoughts on this.

“Number 3″ from the Endless Day CD

Mitch wrote Number 3 mainly because of the back of Stephenie Meyers first Twilight book. The chorus for Number 3 follows this verse: About 3 things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part that thirsted for my blood. And Third, that I was unconditionally in love with him.

Chorus for Number 3:
One, I know, it probably should chill me
Two, I think you probly want to kill me
Three, I know I want to spend my life with you
Youd never harm me
And of all of these
The only one I fear is number three.

Don’t Read This!

Everyone probably knows that I listen to hard rock and alternative rock music, right? Well, I thought I’d take a minute to share with you something you may not have known about me. I have a deep, dark secret on my iPod lurking somewhere between Incubus and The Killers, waiting to be discovered. Therein lies one of the most talented musicians anywhere in the world. His name: Josh Groban.

You can laugh if you want, but the dude has serious skills! Not only is he a ridiculous vocalist, but he plays piano and writes songs, too. Never have I heard someone who sounds identical to their album in concert like he does. I just watched his PBS concert and I was blown away.

There you have it. The first of my secret iPod confessions. I have others, but they’ll have to wait for another time. Have a great week!

Mitch

PS – Maybe I’ll do a video impersonation of Josh for you sometime, but only if you’re nice!
